Tours leave from the main gates of the Queenstown Gardens (Park Street Entrance) every hour on the hour between the following times:

• Friday 15th Jan 6pm-8pm inclusive
• Sat 16th Jan 2pm-8pm inclusive

FAQ’s

• A tour? How does that work?

Shakespeare on Location is what’s known as promenade theatre, where instead of sitting in one place, the audience moves from scene to scene. There’s a guide who will show you where to go and who will also give a synopsis of the scenes you’re about to watch and answer any questions you may have.

• How long is the performance?

The show consists of between 12 and 13 scenes and lasts for approximately an hour.

• You mention cushions…can I bring a chair?

Probably not a good idea. The scenes are relatively short so in some cases, by the time you got your chair sorted, the scene could be over plus it’s quite a large garden to lug a chair around. It’s up to you but if you really need to sit, we’d advise a cushion or if you’re hard core and want nothing between you and nature, nothing at all.

• What about a picnic?

By all means, have one before or after but during the show isn’t really going to work

• Can I book?

No need. Just turn up at the Park Street gates about 5 minutes before any show time. You can’t miss us. There’ll be a tent, a desk and no doubt some sort of sign.

• What if it’s raining?

We’ve had a word and IT WILL NOT RAIN. However if it does, the performances will be cancelled. No point getting wet! However the rain does have to be torrential. Over cast skies and the occasional rain drop do not count. If it’s sunny, remember your sunblock!

• I have mobility issues. How much walking is involved?

The route basically runs from the Park Street Gates to the Rose Gardens, back around the pond down to the bridge beside the Bathhouse. If you know you can walk this far, you’ll be fine. There are some inclines and steps also.
